At Scoro, we believe that great work shouldn’t come at the expense of the quality of your personal life. Flexibility, empathy, and trust are at the heart of our culture, making it easier to balance work and family in a way that truly works for you.
With nearly 32% of our team being parents, supporting family life isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s essential. We’re proud to have received the Family-Friendly Employer gold label from the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs for several years. This recognition demonstrates that we’re not only committed to supporting our team’s well-being but also that we’re backing it up with real, lasting action.
In this post, we’ll share some of the practices, benefits, and everyday choices that make Scoro a family-friendly workplace.

1. Flexible Work Schedules
We don’t believe in fixed 9–5 expectations. While most of our team chooses to work regular hours, everyone is free to adapt their schedule to fit their personal and family life. Whether that means late starts, early finishes, or time blocked off for school pickups. What matters is clear agreements within the team, attending important meetings, and keeping calendars up to date.
All employee calendars are open to their colleagues, making coordination easy across teams and time zones.
2. Choose Where You Work
In addition to choosing your hours, Scorers can also select their location. Our teams in the UK and the US work entirely remotely, and we don’t have any mandatory office attendance days in Tallinn or Riga.
We also support temporary work-from-abroad arrangements. Many team members use this flexibility to travel and work from abroad occasionally. Escaping the dark winters, for instance, helps them stay healthy, energetic, and focused, significantly boosting their overall well-being.

Working mostly from home means I can be there for my children whenever they need me. Having supportive and understanding colleagues makes balancing work and family so much smoother.
3. Paid Parental Leave
At Scoro, we offer paid parental leave to all employees, regardless of where they’re based. In some countries like Estonia and Latvia, national systems already provide generous leave for new parents. In other locations, we offer additional support ourselves. For example, team members in the UK and the US are eligible for 12 weeks of fully paid maternity leave and 8 weeks of fully paid paternity leave.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be fully present for such an important life milestone, regardless of their location.
4. Staying Connected During Leave
Being on parental leave doesn’t mean stepping away from Scoro life entirely. We make sure our parents on leave still feel part of the team by sending company newsletters and inviting them to our summer and winter events. It’s a way to keep those personal and professional connections alive, even while fully focusing on family.
Even during my 1.5 years at home, I still felt like part of the team. Staying connected made coming back so much easier because I already knew what was happening and had kept in touch with many colleagues.
5. Gradual Return After Parental Leave & Salary Review
Returning to work after parental leave can be a significant change. To make this transition smoother, we support a flexible, gradual return when needed.
Many Scorers choose to ease back in with a reduced workload, for example, starting at 20%, 50%, or 80% of their usual hours. This gives them time to adjust to their new routine and find a balance between work and family life.
These plans are always made together with the manager. It’s a small change that makes a big difference, and it’s something our returning parents truly value.
6. Generous and Flexible Time Off Policy
At Scoro, all team members receive more than five weeks of paid annual leave, regardless of their location, whether based in Estonia, Latvia, the UK, or the US. Time off can be used in a way that suits individual needs, whether for a longer holiday or a single day to recharge.
In addition, team members start earning loyalty days from their first year, with up to five extra days off per year as their tenure at Scoro grows.
Everyone also has access to three paid medical days each year. These can be used when feeling unwell or caring for a family member—no doctor’s note is needed.
Managers are expected to make sure their team members take regular time off. Rest is essential for well-being, focus, and doing great work over the long term.

7. Supportive Management Culture
At Scoro, being a family-friendly employer isn’t just about benefits. It’s also about how we lead. Managers are expected to build strong, trusting relationships with their team members. Regular check-ins help ensure everyone feels supported, both professionally and personally.
We value open conversations about workload, flexibility needs, and life outside of work. This helps managers spot early signs of burnout, adjust priorities, and offer support when it’s needed most.
To ensure we’re on the right track, all team members and managers complete a survey annually to reflect on their collaboration and management experiences. This helps us understand how supported people feel and where we can improve.
It’s not just about flexibility – empathy is part of everyday life here. My manager regularly checks in and genuinely asks how I’m doing, and that makes a real difference.
8. Celebrating Life’s Milestones and Holidays
Life isn’t just about work, and we like to recognize the moments that matter. From birthdays and weddings to graduations and new babies, we celebrate meaningful milestones with thoughtful gifts from the Scoro team.
We also remember our kids. Every child receives a Christmas gift to share the holiday spirit. In our Tallinn HQ, we host a special kids’ Christmas party filled with fun and festive cheer.
It’s our way of showing we care, not just about the work, but about their family and journey.
We know that great work doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens when people feel safe, supported, and seen. That’s why being family-friendly isn’t a perk at Scoro; it’s part of who we are.
