Liisa’s path to Scoro started somewhere you might not expect: in apparel production, working as a patternmaker. From there, she found her way into tech, joined Scoro, and has since grown through roles in Customer Onboarding, Solution Engineering, and now Product Management.
It’s not the kind of career story that was planned step by step. Instead, it grew from curiosity, new opportunities, and a willingness to keep learning along the way.
We sat down with Liisa to hear how her journey unfolded, what she has learned from moving across different roles, and what she would tell someone thinking about joining the team today.
1. Tell us about your time at Scoro. When did you join, and what roles have you had?
I joined Scoro seven and a half years ago as a Customer Onboarding Expert within the services team. I grew into a senior role there, then made the leap into Solution Engineering on the sales side. Now I’m a Product Manager, working closely with developers, designers, and other product managers.

2. What did you study or do before joining Scoro?
Funnily enough, I studied technical apparel design at a University of Applied Sciences, and my first job was as a patternmaker in an apparel production company. That world taught me a lot about precision, attention to detail, and the discipline of getting things exactly right.
I’ve gradually moved away from that career path, but that mindset has stayed with me. I’m still drawn to great tailoring, practical design, and sustainability – and apparel construction remains a hobby I love.
3. How did you find your way to an IT company?
My very software-savvy brother taught me a little coding when we were young – I think that planted the seed. Years later, working in garment production, I made a move to a software company in the apparel and fit space. I was drawn to the innovation and energy I saw in tech. There, I grew into a client implementation role, and that experience is what eventually opened the door to Scoro.
4. You’ve moved through three different divisions and roles here – onboarding, solution engineering, and now product. What did you take with you from each one?
The first two roles were both client-facing. More than anything, they taught me that customers want to feel understood. And that starts with listening – really trying to understand what someone is struggling with.
Scoro solves such a wide range of complex challenges that every conversation requires translating solutions into the client’s own language. The message is always the same: you’re not alone in this; others face the same challenges, and here’s what best practice looks like.
In the Solution Engineering role, especially, I was exposed to a large variety of clients and use cases, which helped me spot patterns and build a real understanding of the professional services industry.
Now, as a Product Manager, that background gives me more confidence in decision-making. I’m not guessing what clients experience; I’ve seen it. I also joined the product team right in the middle of the AI wave, which can be a bit intimidating. The pace of innovation is a lot to keep up with, but it’s been such a fun experience, and honestly, I can’t think of a better time to step into a product role with all that client-facing experience behind me.

5. What does a typical week look like for a Product Manager at Scoro?
Discovery takes up a large chunk of my time – talking to people across teams and to clients, researching what problems are actually worth solving, and validating against industry standards.
From there, a lot of it is writing: shaping specs, clarifying requirements, documenting decisions, and validating shipped work. Strategy is also a big part of it, though that’s very much a team effort. We collaborate closely across the product team to make sure we’re all moving in the right direction.
6. What’s the most interesting part of the Product Manager role at Scoro?
Without a doubt, it’s the people. Every day, I get to collaborate with some truly brilliant minds.
Beyond that, AI tooling has made my work a lot more efficient, from deep research to prototyping and validating ideas; things move faster now. What I find exciting is seeing how others are using these tools, learning from them, and being part of how both our internal processes and the product itself are shifting.

7. What skills or mindsets have helped you succeed?
I’d say a solution-oriented mindset more than anything. Rather than dwelling on why something can’t be done, I prefer to dig in – have the conversations, identify the blockers, and find ways around them or to eliminate them.
I remember a colleague from my client-facing days who gave me a reframe I still think about: when I came to him asking for a specific report a client had requested, he said the report itself didn’t matter – what mattered was what questions they were trying to answer with these reports. That question-behind-the-question approach has stuck with me ever since.
8. What have been some memorable moments at Scoro?
The people make the moments for me. But if I had to pick something specific, it would be the Scoro hackathons. Working in a small, focused group with people from completely different teams, under time pressure, with a shared goal – it brings out something special. There’s adrenaline, deep thinking, and a kind of creative energy you don’t always get in day-to-day work. Ideas surface that wouldn’t otherwise exist. It’s condensed, intense, and incredibly unifying. I love them.

9. What advice would you give someone thinking about joining the Product team at Scoro?
Stay open and curious. Your own perspective is valuable, but it’s only one perspective. The people around you will consistently surprise you with the quality of their input. Come with opinions, but hold them loosely. And when something feels like it needs fixing, resist the urge to solve it immediately. Slow down. Ask more questions. Peel off the layers. The surface issue is rarely the whole story.
