IT and security play a key role in keeping Scoro running smoothly behind the scenes. From managing internal systems to protecting company and customer data, the team makes sure everything works securely and efficiently.
Annigrete, now Scoro’s Internal IT & Security Manager, first joined the company as an intern. In this post, she shares how her journey into IT & Security started, what the team does day to day, and what it’s like to work in this field.

1. Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Scoro?
Hi! I’m Annigrete, but everyone calls me Anni. I’m the Internal IT & Security Manager here at Scoro. I joined in 2022 as an IT & Security Engineer Intern.
Since then, I’ve grown through several roles – from Intern to Junior, then dropping the Junior from my title, and eventually stepping into my current leadership role in September 2025.
Today, I lead the IT and Security functions and a small team of two at Scoro. Both my team members and I are based in Tallinn, Estonia, but our work involves close collaboration with Scoro team members around the world.
2. What does the Security & IT team do at Scoro?
We oversee the full spectrum of IT and security operations from office connectivity, hardware, and user access provisioning to more advanced security initiatives. For example, we coordinate external penetration tests, run our public vulnerability disclosure program, and maintain compliance with ISO 27001.
To be honest, there’s no such thing as a typical workday in this team. The IT and Security field can be quite unpredictable. I might start the day with a clear plan of tasks, but something unexpected can easily come up – like a complex security questionnaire from a client or a potential security incident. That’s why no two days are ever the same.

3. How did you end up working in Security & IT?
I studied Business Information Technology at Tallinn University of Technology. I chose this degree for its comprehensive scope, which allowed me to learn about Business Process Modelling, Information Systems Development, and IT Management.
During my second year at university, I started looking for internship opportunities to gain hands-on experience alongside my studies. One day, while scrolling on Facebook, I came across an ad for an internship at Scoro.
After a few interviews, office tours, and home assignments, I got the position. The role turned out to be more focused on security and compliance than my degree, but that actually made it even more interesting. I’ve learned a lot in the real world that you simply can’t learn in a classroom.
4. What do you enjoy most about your role?
Technology is always evolving, which means there are endless opportunities to learn. My role covers a wide range of areas – from managing internal IT and improving security practices to implementing processes that help us stay compliant with information security industry standards.
As I mentioned, the job can be pretty chaotic. No two days are alike, and while it’s difficult to navigate at times, ironically, that’s one of the things I enjoy most about my work.

5. What skills or qualities help someone succeed in the Security & IT team?
It’s important not to be intimidated by the unknown. Many of the challenges we face are unique, which means we often deal with situations we’ve never encountered before.
To succeed in this role, you need to stay curious and not be afraid of a challenge. Being adaptable and open to learning new things is a big part of the job.
6. What’s one thing that might surprise people about your team?
Breaking all the stereotypes here – we’re not really that introverted! In IT and security roles like ours, communication is just as important as technical skills.
Whether we’re discussing new security protocols or troubleshooting internal issues, we’re constantly working with people across the company.

7. What advice would you give someone applying for a role in Scoro’s Engineering division?
Honestly, it comes down to having a strong can-do attitude. You need to be naturally curious and motivated to learn new things.
It also helps to have the courage to challenge existing ways of doing things and bring new ideas to the table.
